Presenters:

Sergeant Emily Spindler has been with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) for the last 16 years. Sergeant Spindler began her career with CMPD in 2006 in the Communications Division as a 911 call taker and dispatcher. In 2008, Sergeant Spindler went through CMPD’s Police Academy and became an officer in 2009. Sergeant Spindler worked in a patrol division and in the electronic monitoring unit before transferring to the Real Time Crime Center as a detective in 2013. Sergeant Spindler worked in the Real Time Crime Center until getting promoted to Sergeant in 2016 and then went back to a patrol division. In 2017, Sergeant Spindler returned to the Criminal Intelligence Division, working in the Criminal Intelligence Unit and in the Real Time Crime Center and has worked there ever since.

The CMPD’s Real Time Crime Center was formed in 2012 after Charlotte hosted the Democratic National Convention and so it was still in its early stages when Sergeant Spindler began as a detective in the Real Time Crime Center. Sergeant Spindler worked with the other detectives and the chain of command to contribute ideas and work through a variety of processes to determine what worked well and what needed to be adjusted. Sergeant Spindler was a part of the early challenges that a new Real Time Crime Center faces and is now part of the continuing work to build an even more robust center.

Sergeant Spindler currently serves on the board of the National Real Time Crime Center Association as the Partnership Director. Sergeant Spindler has served in this position since October of 2022 and seeks to partner with other law enforcement organizations, private corporations and associations to create a network of individuals who believe that Real Time Crime Centers are the future of policing and who utilize technology as a force multiplier in order to identify criminals and solve crimes.

Marcos Hernandez has been with the Scottsdale Police Department since 1998. For twenty years, he was a police aide working alongside police officers on patrol responding to and investigating non-emergency calls for service including traffic collisions. His more recent assignments were two years with the crime prevention unit and, more recently, two years in a dual role as an analyst for the East Valley Fusion Center and a technician in Scottsdale Police’s real-time crime center. Marcos is also the treasurer of the National Real Time Crime Center Association.

Nichole North is the Vice President of Administration for the National Real Time Crime Center Association (NRTCCA). She is currently employed as the Supervisor over the Real Time Crime Center at the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office. Nichole started at the agency in 2018 as the domestic violence analyst, was promoted to Senior Analyst of the Real Time Crime Center in January 2021, and then to RTCC Supervisor in October 2021. Prior to that, Nichole served as a telecommunications operator at St Johns County Sheriff’s Office from June 2016 to March 2018. She graduated as class valedictorian from Keiser University’s Daytona Campus in May of 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forensic Investigations. Additionally, Nichole graduated from the Florida Law Enforcement Analyst Academy (FLEAA) in December 2021.

Jared Kosina began his career in law enforcement as a police officer in 2011 with the Phoenix Police Department. He served in a patrol capacity in the City of Phoenix for approximately three years. In 2014 he transferred agencies to the Salt River Police Department. Salt River lies within the City of Scottsdale but is a sovereign tribal community. Within Salt River, Jared added to his AZPOST certification and also became tribally certified as well as federally certified. Jared, along with my fellow SRPD officers has the ability to enforce Tribal, State, and Federal Laws. Jared currently works as a detective in our Real Time Crime Center which he built from the ground up. Jared is an avid instructor having many certifications but his favorite one is driving instructor. In a previous life, Jared used to race.
