This presentation will explore academic literature, data, and victim accounts of family violence (Partner Abuse, Child Abuse, Elder Abuse, and Pet Abuse) occurring in rural communities. Key barriers to reporting will be highlighted and innovative concepts to improve prevention and detection of abuse perpetrated in these often isolated homes will be introduced. Participants will learn of the critical opportunity faith-based organizations may have to detect and report abuse in rural communities, and the importance of improving collaborations between human welfare and animal welfare organizations to better ensure the safety of ALL who reside in these homes.
