Over the last decade, there has been an increase in community expectations regarding law enforcement’s response to individuals in a behavioral health crisis. With this pressure, many agencies experimented with various levels of response from increased training to embedding professionals within agencies.
During this session, we will discuss options for these responses including examples of each response and benefits or disadvantages of each. Additionally, funding options and implementation procedures including safety concerns for civilians will be examined. This session is part 1 of a two part series and part 2 will discuss managing and evaluating these responses.
