When conducting a crime scene investigation, responders often are tasked with the development and recovery of latent print evidence. However, one of the most important steps in this examination process is the ability to visualize latent prints and photograph them appropriately for further examination. In this session, the different lighting methods for evidentiary photography will be discussed, as well as how this important step solved a homicide case, being the only recovered evidence.

Presenters:

Andrew R. Reitnauer is a Certified Senior Crime Scene Analyst (CSCSA) through the International Association for Identification and the CEO of Delta Forensics, where he serves as the lead trainer and instructional designer of the Delta Forensics Virtual Academy on a global platform. He is also currently an adjunct professor at four universities, instructing courses on Crime Scene Investigation, Fingerprint Analysis and Criminalistics. For the past 18 years, he has been an active Trainer, Latent Print Examiner, Crime Scene Responder, Technical Leader and Section Supervisor within the forensic laboratory system. In addition to casework duties, Andrew has also served as a primary trainer for new examiners and outside agencies. He is a Past-President for the New York Division of the IAI and is an active member of multiple IAI Divisions. Andrew has presented at numerous conferences and seminars on a variety of topics, and also authored several articles and book chapters focusing on Latent Print Examination, Crime scene Investigation, Forensic Photography, and Administrative Leadership in Forensic Science.
