Amanda Stamps currently works as the Training and Community Development Coordinator at a large behavioral health non-profit in Arizona and owner of Practical Law Enforcement Crisis Solutions LLC. Prior to this, Ms. Stamps was with the Mesa Police Department for almost 24 years, retiring in 2022. During her career, she worked as a patrol officer, a field training officer, a detective with the Special Victim’s Unit, in Community Engagement and Youth Development, as a member of the peer support team, and most recently as the department’s Crisis Intervention Team Program Coordinator. Recognized as a Subject Matter Expert, Ms. Stamps specializes in teaching mental illness and crisis intervention to all officers both at the academy level and in their continuing training and provides training to communication and detention personnel, and has been involved in developing CIT programs across Arizona. In 2015, Ms. Stamps became the 1st full-time CIT Program Coordinator for the Mesa Police Department and was involved in the creation of the Crisis Response Team, current co-responder model and crisis diversion program including policy development, personnel selection, and program evaluations . Ms. Stamps has a BA in Psychology from the University of Alabama-Huntsville, a M.Ed. in Counseling and Human Relations from Northern Arizona University and is attending ASU in the College of Health Solutions in pursuit of a Doctor of Behavioral Health. Ms. Stamps is a member of NAMI and CIT International and on the boards of Mental Health America-Arizona and St. Luke’s Behavioral Health Hospital. Ms. Stamps was a founding member and Vice President of the Board of the Arizona CIT Association.  Ms. Stamps was named the Detective of the Year in 2019 and has received numerous citations including a life-saving award through the Mesa Police Department. Ms. Stamps has presented nationally on topics involving community crisis collaboratives and development of effective crisis systems within law enforcement.
