Stephen Barborini

Stephen Barborini is currently a Detective in the Violent Crime Division of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

In this position he reviews, coordinates and assist in firearms related training and investigations. Mr. Barborini worked for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for 25 years with the last five years as the Resident Agent in Charge of the ATF West Palm Beach Field Office until his retirement in December of 2011.

Mr. Barborini is highly regarded as the Subject Matter Expert in the fields of: firearms, firearm/arms trafficking investigations, firearm cybercrime investigations and the procedures, rules, and laws as it pertains to the import, manufacture, and sale of firearms. He has investigated and managed many multi-jurisdictional complex cases to include international firearms trafficking investigations, terrorism investigations, post-blast investigations, armed robberies, long-term undercover operations and serial arsons.

Mr. Barborini consistently creates and conducts training at the local, state, federal and international levels. He has instructed at the ATF National Academy, ILEA International Academies as well as ATF complex case, firearms technology, and firearms trafficking schools. He is currently under contract as an instructor for ATF. Recently he has been breaking ground with the use of Social Media to perfect proactive firearm investigations. He is highly regarded in both law enforcement circle and the industry as the “go-to guy” for firearm investigations and international arms smuggling investigations.
