Kevin E. Courtright

Dr. Kevin E. Courtright is a member of the Department of Criminal Justice at Pennsylvania West University at Edinboro. Prior teaching appointments included positions at Hilbert College and Niagara University. He teaches several corrections courses at both the introductory and advanced levels, having obtained his Ph.D. in criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1995. He is known for his innovative style, inviting corrections practitioners to speak to his students and taking students on tours of correctional facilities. Dr. Courtright was awarded the accolade of “Faculty Member of the Year” at Edinboro University in 2021. Dr. Courtright has written extensively for corrections-related publications. Kevin’s work has appeared in The Journal of Offender Therapy and Comparative Criminology, Federal Probation, The Criminologist, The Journal of Criminal Justice Education, The Prison Journal, Corrections Compendium and Criminal Justice Studies. Dr. Courtright has completed grant work for The Center for Rural Pennsylvania on the siting of prisons in rural Pennsylvania. Prior to his college teaching career, Kevin served as a probation officer in New York state. He resides in Clymer, New York.
