Jonathan Parker began his law enforcement career in 2007 with the Chattanooga, TN Police Department, and later transitioned to the Hamilton County, TN Sheriff’s Office. He has served the Patrol Division as a Patrol Officer and Field Training Officer. Since 2011, he has also served as a School Resource Officer (SRO) and Adjunct Training Instructor. Additionally, he is a member of the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) for mental health crisis response and a volunteer member of the Tennessee Public Safety Network’s Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) team.
Jonathan is a nationally certified bilingual (Spanish) law enforcement officer, has served as a conflict management course facilitator for the University of Tennessee’s Municipal Technical Advisory Service (MTAS), and has over sixteen years of public speaking and training experience.
He was twice recognized as the Chattanooga Police Department’s Officer of the Year (2010, 2011), and has received two Life Saving Awards (2009, 2011), the Tennessee Department of Homeland Security Governor’s Award (2010), the Academic Award for his basic academy, as well as numerous other commendations.
Jonathan’s formal education includes a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Armstrong Atlantic State University (Savannah, GA), as well as a Master of Divinity in Leadership from the Pentecostal Theological Seminary (Cleveland, TN). Additionally, he has completed specialized law enforcement training in the areas of Basic SRO, Advanced SRO, Police Officer Instructor Development, Street Gang Identifiers and Prosecution, Interview and Interrogation, among others.
In addition to full-time work in law enforcement, Jonathan has presented on wellness, ethics, leadership, and other topics at conferences and for law enforcement agencies nationwide. He also produced and hosted the “Watch Your Six Podcast,” a now archived weekly podcast that promotes health and well-being for law enforcement families. He is also the Lead Pastor of Cop Church Chattanooga, a Christian ministry serving the needs of law enforcement families. He is married to Meredith, and together they have a daughter, Olivia.
