Jonas Baughman

Captain Jonas Baughman is a 16-year veteran of the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD). He has held assignments in patrol, investigations, crime/intelligence analysis, and administration during his tenure. Notable posts include creating the KCPD’s Real-time Crime Center and supervising its first team; directing a squad of gang intelligence detectives; and providing strategic analysis and performance metrics while assigned to the Office of the Chief of Police.

Captain Baughman is currently assigned to Central Patrol Division where he is commander of the evening/PM’s shift.

Captain Baughman’s primary interests include spatial analysis and predictive policing, as well as data mining and visualization. He was President of the Mid-America Regional Crime Analysis Network (MARCAN) from 2018 through 2020 and is a current Executive Board Member of the American Society of Evidence-Based Policing (ASEBP).
