Herb Sinkinson has extensive experience in criminal justice and a passion for justice. His career has encompassed a variety of positions in Vermont, working in probation and parole, and in supervisory positions within a correctional facility.
Understanding the power of community support, Mr. Sinkinson championed several restorative justice programs and initiatives including the Victim Impact/Safe Driving Program. As a Community Resource Coordinator, he worked to establish the program statewide. He developed several of the first Reparative Probation Boards in Vermont. Additionally, he has served on the Hostage Negotiation Team and co-founded EXPOS (Ex-Prisoners on the Streets).
Mr. Sinkinson has a Bachelor of Psychology from Saint Michael’s College and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Vermont which presented him the Marshall Dimock Award. He is a graduate of the Vermont Public Managers program, a mediation degree, and Victim Offender Dialogue program, and is a Family Group Conferencing certified trainer. He has been an adjunct faculty member at Champlain College and guest speaker at other colleges and conferences. He helped establish two nonprofits in Vermont and is an executive board member of the New England Council on Crime and Delinquency (NECCD).
