Dr. Joseph Cheng is a staff psychiatrist in the TeleMental Health Hub of the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston, South Carolina. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Cheng has been working with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Assistance Program since 2016 to perform clinical research and assessments in the Post Critical Incident Seminar (PCIS) program. This work has produced presentations given at conferences of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law. Since his psychiatry residency completion, Dr. Cheng continues on with the PCIS program as a Research Coordinator to streamline and develop methods of psychological assessment and follow-up in South Carolina and other states that have implemented the PCIS. Dr. Cheng has his MD and PhD from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
