As law enforcement officer’s we have been training to respond to an active shooter situation since the Columbine school attack. This was the incident that forced us to change our training across the country to a “rapid deployment” response and the solution to these incidents was seen almost solely as a law enforcement response issue. Our training is progressing to more of the post incident process’. However, we can do more if we recognize the community role in prevention, response and recovery and working as a true team we can make a bigger impact. This seminar will discuss current law enforcement response issues and delve deeper into the various community roles that need to be identified, trained and prepared to make our community’s safer.
